The Galt Wedding: Lee & Jill : May 21st 2016 : Mars Hill NC : Memory Mountain
When Lee & Jill first started planning their wedding , it was meant to be on a small family farm near greenville in the beautifully grown fields, but they found that the planning of a huge wedding becomes more about the wedding and less about their love. Jill & Lee's decision to plan a small intimate wedding in the mountains of Asheville North Carolina was one of the best decisions I have seen a couple make.
It was so THEM. They seemed so at ease and happy while there and that to me is exactly what getting married should be like. Memory Mountain in Mars Hill, was absolutely stunning, every cabin and detail was man made by an Amazing man who built the Chapel in remembrance of his Son. Not only is the whole property breathtaking but its serene and soothing as well. It's a true hidden beauty within these massive mountains and I am so happy I was able to capture Jill & Lee there !
Almost everything made for this wedding was hand made by the Bride or her friends from her Bouquet to his Boutonniere and all of the decor. Her hair and makeup was self done with helpful touches from friends and family as we redid it 3 times throughout the day to keep it beautifully curled for portraits!
The only thing that wasn't handmade with love by either the bride or her loved ones was the mouth watering dinner by LuLu's on Main in Asheville ! The Barbecue was one of the best southern BBQ's I have ever tasted and that is saying a lot! Everything was flavorful and delicious!
The Cakes were also made by the Bride and a dear friend, and I absolutely fell in love with them, first of all they were sooo good and moist and full of flavor and on top of all that they looked home made not in the bad sense but in the sense of looking at them and them reminding you of your grandmothers baking.
The whole day I felt nothing but love, I felt welcome like family in a small group of 25 people. I was able to enjoy, capture and laugh among people as they drank, got thrown into ponds and just enjoyed one another whole heartedly. The ceremony was intimate, and was performed by the brides brother Daniel Flmc Lalone . The brides other brother Aaron Harris gave her away since her dad has passed; although he wasn't here to walk her down the aisle, his presence was felt on so many occasions throughout the day.
This wedding was more than a huge check off my bucket list , it was a dream come true !
